Diaper Cake

A friend of mine really wanted a diaper cake for her baby shower. My friend Paule and I had never made one but looked up a few things online and then went to it. We bought a box of 192 size 1-2 baby diapers, as well as a box of 144 size 3 diapers. Our bottom few layers were made using the bigger (size 3) diapers and then the top layers were using the smaller layers. We only intended on make 3 layers but had lots of diapers so made a 7 layer cake!!!!

We started by rolling a bunch of diapers and squeezing them into a rubber band to form the center of each layer, and then wrapped more diapers (flat) around the center we had created. Once we had the desired size, we wrapped the layer with a plastic banner that said "It's a Boy", although you could use thick ribbon to do the same. 

We saw cool one that had blankets and such in the middle to hold all layers together but we just placed each layer on top of the next. We then decorated the whole thing with little photos and ribbons and decorations. 

We had SO much fun making it and it was a great centerpiece for the gift table at the shower!
